Seaside on Screen: The Truman Show History
Seaside played a starring role in The Truman Show (1998), the iconic film featuring Jim Carrey as Truman Burbank. The pastel cottages, manicured streets, and idyllic town center became the fictional Seahaven Island, a world built to feel perfect, yet entirely controlled. Producers chose Seaside for its architectural charm and walkable layout, making it the ideal backdrop for a story about illusion and surveillance. The towns real life design mirrored the films themes, blurring the line between authenticity and artifice.
